Who are we?
A group of parents and carers of children and young people with learning difficulties, disabilities or additional needs, based in the London Borough of Hillingdon.
Our Aims ~
To represent the views of parents and carers in discussions with the local authority and, through this, to influence the way local services are delivered. We will inform the local authority of occasions when the experience of practice does not match current policy. We also want to play a more active part in service design and development by ensuring that the needs and wishes of our children and families are heard, and placed at the centre of these processes.
WELCOME TO THE HILLINGDON
Meet the Team ~
Kevin Bugler (Chair)
Kevin is our current Chair and is also responsible for maintaining our website and Facebook page and for all the great posts and links to relevant services. Kevin also founded Hillingdon Dads that gives support from DADZ4DADZ caring for Children with Disabilities and Special Educational Needs in the UK
Matthew Coogan (Vice Chair)
Matthew is one of our newer members of the committee, having joined in the past year. Matthew represents the forum on the Local Offer & Disability Register, SEND Steering Group, Short Breaks and Transport Steering Group.
Natasha Copas (Treasurer)
Natasha is one of our newer members of the committee, having joined in the past year. Natasha represents the forum on the Children & Young People’s Mental Health & Well Being Board. She also helps arrange our regular coffee mornings and recently represented us at the NNPCF London Cluster Meeting.
Marion de Souza (Secretary)
I've been committee secretary of the HPCF since it was relaunched in 2011 and am as enthusiastic now as I was then. I've met some wonderful parents/carers along the way, and I look forward to meeting many more of you, as we journey on with our SEND children. Having had a 25 year career in banking in the City of London, I now give my time to voluntary work. I am blessed with 3 gorgeous daughters; my middle daughter is 18 years old and attends Meadow High School.
Joanne Killick (Committee Member)
Joanne is one of our newer members of the committee, having joined in the past year. She represents the forum on the SEND Steering Group and the Learning Disability Partnership Board. She is also a Parent Champion for LBH and recently represented us at the NNPCF London Cluster Meeting.
Linda Myford (Committee Member)
My aim in joining the Hillingdon PCF is to raise awareness in the community and try to navigate the facilities for those individuals with special needs whether is it in Education or Health . To put the voice of many individuals into the LA meetings so that the LA understands the importance of including those individuals who cannot voice their needs themselves. It is important that the vulnerable individuals have their say. Although I am retired I have spent my working life in the Healthcare sector and have witnessed many shortcomings, it is therefore my intent. with the PCF to try to help rectify some of the shortcomings that still exist.
Freda O’Driscoll (Committee Member – co-opted)
Freda is our health representative from the CNWL NHS Children and Families Services. She provides a very important link to local community children’s health services (including health visiting, school nursing, therapy services and the Child Development Centre) and participates on many of the groups.
In addition to our committee members, we have a number of Parent Representatives, who represent parent/carers on some of the groups. These roles are very important to ensuring we can cover a wide range of issues and that we also represent all of our parents/carers such as different disabilities, cultures and languages. We are currently looking for more Parent Reps to join our team. We have had lot's of Parent/Carers approach us at several recent events, who have asked if they too can be Reps and even Committee members please email at email@example.com us so that we can invite you to attend a Joining workshop.
Our current Parents Reps are:
Mehmet Tunc, Ivana Bugler, Lynne Laverty

Hillingdon Autism Parent/Carers Engagement Evening 22nd May ~
Hillingdon Parent Carers Forum in partnership with London Borough of Hillingdon will be co-hosting an event on 22nd May at 7pm at Oak Wood school Hillingdon, aimed specifically at parents and carers of children or young people with Autism within Hillingdon. We believe this is the first such event of its kind in Hillingdon. The objective of the event is two-fold. Firstly to inform parents and carers what services are available within Hillingdon and secondly to provide an opportunity for parents and carers to network with each other, professionals and the various groups represented on the day. There will be a number of speakers and a panel Q&A session where we will ask specific questions on behalf of our parents and carers. An invite will be sent to all members of HPCF next week.
March was a very busy and yet Fanatastic month mneeting many new Parent/Carers in Hillingdon.
This month we ran the third Challenging Behaviour Workshop where the Trainer (Sarah Fisher) trained Parent/Carers in the Non-Violent Resistance Approach to Challenging Behaviour. We will run another Workshop soon for those who have not yet attend but would benefit from the workshop. Based on last years survey and the many coffee mornings we have have attend at Schools many parents would benefit and we have had brilliant feedback from all 3 workshops we have run so far.
We had the Disability Law and Rights Conference at the Yiewsley Baptist Church on the 8th of March with guest speaker being Steve Broach Barrister covering Disabled Children, Young People and Families (The Law Today). We have shared the slides on the "past events slides and info" page.
On the 14th March we had our second annual Engagement Evening where we met Parent/Carers on a social relaxed enviroment and invited other support groups, professinals and charitities in the borough to provide info of their services including Lauren Mawsdley (Disability Sports Coach @ Botwell), Carmen To (Royal Society for Blind Children), Amy Slade (Mental Health advisor for Brunel), Peter De-Casagrande (Disability advisor - Dyslexia for Brunel), Gary Leaderman (Hillingdon DADS), Madeleine Jarvis (Hillingdon Carers) & Stephanie Mullally, Cat Ford & Katherine Eaton (HACS), along with info from Centre for ADHD & Autism Services and MENCAP Hillingdon South.
We was also again invited to have a information table at the fantastic AKO Autism EXPO by Anna Kennedy on the 10th March. Where we invited 3 members of the Hillingdon LA SEN team also so they could experience the Autism Reality Experiences they had at their event.
Coffee Mornings ~ We are very happy to say we will be attending a coffee Morning at Willows Special School on 19th April from 0930am and we will have an Information table at Minet Juniors & Infants on 24th April from 9am.
We will also have a Stall at St Marys Summer Fete in June, so that we can meet ore SEN Parents at the their Schools. We are still to confirm dates are Guru Nanak and Queensmead. Having been at the Inclusion Conference with Sencos from all Hillingdon Schools invited we are hoping soon to have many calls to attend a lot more Schools in the borough.
